Our Buenos Aires nose-to-tail

We had just set foot in Buenos Aires, Argentina and we were involved in a scene straight out of a Jason Bourne film. Our slightly loco taxi driver was doing his best impression of a rally car driver in rush hour. He would accelerate like a madman, break heavily and find gaps where there surely were not gaps. I clutched on to Tim's leg, scared for my life.

An SUV had just narrowly missed our taxi and the rattle of the car's sick-sounding engine was doing nothing to calm me down. And then we were smacked roughly up the behind by a Nissan Pathfinder. I was inspecting the crunched boot when the driver rushed us into another taxi, our bags thrust at us in a matter of seconds.

In the second taxi I started to calm down. We'd had one crash so I felt rather safe after that and took my first real look at Buenos Aires, a city I've tried to imagine many times before we arrived on its shores. With over 17 million people, Buenos Aires is insanely large in both population and area. I was like a slack-jawed yokel as I tried to comprehend a city so enormous. We'd planned four days in Argentina's biggest city and I feared it wouldn't be even close to enough time. Sadly, I was right.
