There are tourists left, right and centre waiting to pose in the butt crack of a big bronze bull.
I have read all about what the Charging Bull symbolises - financial optimism - and I'm right there ready to have my face photographed by the beast's arse.
Little did I know at that point but the bull would be the highlight of our visit to the Financial District.
There was not a 'Charlie Sheen in the 80s' style character anywhere, let alone anyone who seemed as powerful as Michael Douglas's Wall Street character Gordon Gecko.
I had expected there to be loads of 'suited and booted' types screaming on street corners: 'Buy, sell, you're fired'. But the only people yelling were the hotdog vendors.
However, I can easily find the words to describe our Ground Zero visit. We turned up, stared at a giant fence and found a sign saying we couldn't go inside because there was development in progress.
Oh well. We were slightly disappointed, but happy something was finally being done with the area.
Next stop: It has to be done, but it takes forever - a visit to the iconic Statue of Liberty.
