Now, it's going to happen.
And I have Yahoo!Xtra Answers to thank. After many, many, years of waiting, I'm finally getting a dog. I spent my entire childhood longing for a dog. And when my brother moved out, I was so desperate for furry companionship I would visit him every week to play a rousing game of fetch... with his cat.
After living vicariously through friends dog's, I decided now was the time to get my own fuzzball.
But where to start? I knew I wanted a dog, but what kind? Did I need something protective, something athletic, or a dog that's great with kids? I needed help finding the right dog. Thankfully, Answers was there to steer me in the right direction.
But what about naming my dog? And training it? I decided to make a "knowledge-needed" shopping list. If I'm to be a responsible puppy parent, I need to learn a few things. First, I like my fingers, so how can I stop my dog from biting them? Second, I like my floors, so how can stop my puppy from, well, naturalising them? Third, and most importantly, how can I teach my dog to roll over? Okay, it's not that important but 'sure is cute looking'.
I know for certain that I'm going to have a lot more questions when the little tyke arrives at my door step, and I'm happy in the knowledge that the Answers community will be my safety net at every turn. I'm excited to share my funny dog moments with all of you, and feel safe in the knowledge that you can always teach an old dog new tricks.
The next question I have is what type of digital camera I should get so I can document every second of this little guys life? Hmm, I bet I know who'll have the Answers.
Chris
