Work Harder, not Smarter

The recent controversy surrounding former New Zealand cabinet minister, David Benson-Pope, got me thinking about work. More specifically the difficulties of work.

If Mr. Benson-Pope had only spent a little bit of time on Answers, he could have avoided the whole debacle he's in now.

When things aren't going well, impressing one's boss doesn't go astray, and if that works, who knows, maybe getting a promotion is right around the corner.

But if worst comes to worst, and the bitterest of pills is to be swallowed, it's good to know the Answers community can help out anyone who's been fired, because really, every crisis is just an opportunity in disguise.

You could set your sights on getting the most enjoyable job, the highest-paying job, or, the most relaxing job. If you end up in one of the world's worst jobs though, let's hope it comes with a silver lining: the office romance.

There are many thoughts and ideas on the dangers of entering into an office romance, especially if said romance includes your boss. But even then, you'll be happily in love, unless it all goes wrong. In which case, and this is where David Benson-Pope should really be listening, the Answers community has a wealth of knowledge dedicated to getting even with your boss. Just don't overdo it.

And for those disillusioned with the whole process, American actress and comedian, Lily Tomlin, has some wise words, "The trouble with being in the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat".
