Suzanne Paul joins us on Answers to ask a question very relevant to her own life:

What's the best advice you've been giving about dealing with life's ups and downs?

In her own words:

"I've certainly had my ups and downs in life, and my life has also been very public. I've always managed to hold my head high, and picked myself up, dusted myself off, and found the courage to start again. Love and support from family and friends has carried me through my toughest times, and I'm interested to hear from New Zealanders about what has helped them survive the hard times in their lives."

More about Suzanne:

"I came to New Zealand in 1991 from Wolverhampton, England with $15 in my pocket, and big dreams. I started Prestige Marketing and began selling products in shopping malls before moving into television infomercials where I became known to New Zealanders for endorsing products such as "Natural Glow". After selling my business I starred in a number of New Zealand television series, including Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Garage Sale, How's Life and Celebrity Treasure Island. Another life changing event for me was when I invested my energy and cash in a Maori cabaret tourism venture which went wrong and I lost it all. I have since been rebuilding my life and career.

One of my proudest moments came recently when at 50, and while sporting broken ribs, I won New Zealand's Dancing With the Stars."

Suzanne's chosen charity was the Starship Foundation, which she continues to support.

I have never been given any advice, I have had to find my own way.I am marrying for the 4th. time( I am 73) I moved from Newcastle/Tyne to Sydney in 1969 and have now relocated to N.Z
I have sold my 2 Rolls Royces and my aeroplane and accept all that occurs in my life in a philosophical manner and get on with whatever I am doing at the time

Congratulations Suzanne. You rock ! You were an inspiration to we 'over 50's' ! And isn't Stefano DELICIOUS !
Advice ? When you are young, everything that happens to you is as major event. But as you age and (possibly) mature, you realise that the world doesn't stop for your disapointments. Life goes on, ---- and what is todays headline news, is tomorrows 'fish and chip' paper. Time heals, --- and to always look back on past sorrows, prevents us from looking forward to new adventures.

Congratulations Suzanne - what an inspiration you are! It takes courage to pick yourself up and "get over it" as I have had to do after giving birth to a stillborn baby and more recently surviving breast cancer - mastectomy - and later, reconstructive surgery. I really DON'T feel we "get over it" but we develop an unusual strength which takes us forward.

Over the past few years I have had many ups and downs, the downs are the hardest especially when people make quick judgements on you when they don't know the facts, there are still many people in my life like that - but I say "What goes around comes around" and one day they may be judged ... and these situations can also make you are stronger person, which this has for me.
Suzanne I think that you are a great person - well done on Dancing with the stars.. keep up your good work

hi there Suz,

it is great that you have picked yourself up after such a huge loss. i too have had a business fail, to pick ones-self after that is hard, it is even harder when you have your face everywhere as you do. also i think it takes courage to face your fears, and to believe in yourself, such as you have done on DWTS. anyway for advice, i would contine to do your best, pay the older bills first, pay yourself, then also make sure that you are the only one who signs anything

Hi suzanne, I think everyone has 'a story' & I have many & still have -However-I think compared to the 40,000 kids that die daily primarily iin the -mainly in the 3rd world counry -we are blessd. Each 'my stories' can become a poor me!-I think you have had it light compared to above- -yet as a celeb -you can sell that 'poor me'. Think again $$ r not more important than people &-You went to China and moaned !!-theres a mum recently who lost 2 kids to a train-Try her loss. $$ DO NOT COMPARE.

Yes you have lost a lot of wealth! You certainly still have your health, and family and friends!! There a lot of people alot worse of that no-one cares about!! You still live in a 1.3.000.000 house with those you care about. To a lot of us you are still very wealthy. What is more important in life money or people? I feel people are thats why I am and will always be a survivour
