Raise your T.Q

Yes that's right, T.Q, better know as Trivia Quotient. Why bother knowing a bunch of seemingly useless facts? Because it'll build your intelligence, and also, it'll make you a little bit more interesting to talk to.

In this, the second edition of Yahoo!Xtra Answers special 'Brain Training' blog series, we're forced to remember why memory is such a vital component to increasing your intelligence.

Imagine your brain as the world's fastest super computer. Every time you try to remember something, say, where they keep the Marmite in the supermarket, your brain launches a search function on your memories, and, if you've been to the supermarket and bought Marmite enough times, you'll have the answer.

The more you use the 'search function' (i.e pub trivia nights) the more efficient your it gets, and the easier it'll be for you to remember important things, like where you left your keys last night.

And what better way to stimulate and strenghten your 'search function' than with Yahoo!Xtra Answer's Trivia section?

If that isn't enough of an incentive to get you started, being a trivia buff has some other benefits too:

  • You'll be constantly learning new and exciting information, such as, which animals can run faster uphill than downhill.
  • You'll have a plethora of conversation ice-breakers.
  • Everyone will want to be on your pub-triva team.
  • You could actually win a TV gameshow.
  • Trivial Pursuit will be a piece of cake.
  • And, you will actually remember where you left your keys last night.

To get you started we've rounded up some juicy bits of trivia to excite your brainwaves.

The man who invented the first pen was named...

We eat popcorn in the cinemas because...

The country with the most colourful national flag is...

Matadors use red capes to attract bulls because...

Foil doesn't catch fire because...

And don't forget to share your trivia around. If you've got a gem of a fact that's sure to titillate the masses, head on over to this question and dazzle the audience.

Haha, cool. Sounds fun. I'm poor at pub-trivia so this should help. Cool graphic too. Neato.
