"I like clothes to be beautiful and sexy. I also like them to have an engaging wittiness and a sense that the glamour of bygone eras has been given an uncompromisingly modern twist," Tanya Carlson says.
Carlson has always had a love of dress-ups - fabric, fabrication and pretty things.
"My earliest memories of people and places always seem to revolve around clothes. I was always fascinated by what people wore and can often recall details of the clothes more than details of the events themselves."

Carlson's gracious designs attract both critical acclaim and a dedicated customer following, with stockists throughout New Zealand and Australia.
Several Carlson pieces are now in the permanent collection of Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand. Carlson also has a strong pedigree in dance costuming, with celebrated creations for a number of top choreographers and dancers - including Douglas Wright and Michael Parmenter. In addition, she has had a long-running collaborative partnership with choreographer Daniel Belton.
